Nicolee is an accomplished writer and filmmaker whose artistic exploration delves into the rich tapestry of culture, identity, and experiences unique to underrepresented communities. Her creative practice seamlessly blends movements, electronic sounds, and intimate storytelling, crafting narratives that resonate on a deeper level.
In her work, Nicolee draws inspiration from her sensory memories of growing up in Hong Kong, infusing her creations with a captivating blend of rich colours, textures, and nuanced details. Beyond the surface of skyscrapers, pastel estates, and neon-lit alleyways lies a world of stories and hidden depths, which she masterfully portrays as romantically charming and reminiscent in her current projects. Nicolee’s ability to transform gritty realities into evocative art adds a distinctive and captivating touch to her storytelling.
Having honed her skills in music videos, collaborating with artists such as Olivia Dean, Nia Archives and Jianbo, 2023 has seen Nicolee direct TVC for Tesco and Debenhams, as well as a Nike campaign with the Lionesses and Amelia Dimoldenberg. Her film “Home Again” for Brick Lane cafe HOKO has taken the industry and awards circuit by storm so far earning her a Bronze in Shots Young Director of the Year, a Shots Best Direction nomination and a silver Best Casting win at Kinsale Shark Awards. Her work has been featured across Galdem, Booooooom TV, Free The Work, i-D, Girls in Film, Nowness, Shots and Videoclip Italia, among others.
